Three Centuries and Still Growing!!!
Spring
2000 Volume 14, No. 1
You can't escape
sensational headlines even in a humble nursery newsletter. Horsfords
is only entering it's 107th growing season, but the 21st century
is the third the nursery has been a part of (for you sticklers out
there, I know the 21st century doesn't begin until 2001 - get over
it). Over the years, many things have changed and many, thank goodness,
have stayed the same here at the nursery.
Over the last
hundred years we have seen so many technological advances they're
difficult to number, much less rank. In the last 25 years computers
have become a part of our everyday existence. Many people are as
likely to log on as to turn on their television. With this in mind,
we are in the process of creating this website. HORSFORDNURSERY.com
will be a work in progress this season.
By the time
you read this, our digging crews will have already begun a rite
of spring. Thousands of lilacs, shade trees and flowering crabapples,
after years of nurturing and care, are being dug. Our open, productive
land is producing wonderful plants that will be planted and enjoyed
throughout the Northeast. Your proximity to these bountiful fields
allows you to choose the `cream' of our crop and realize a cost
savings.
With spring
also comes the energy to get out and garden. All gardening projects
are best started with a good plan. Sometimes ideas don't spring
readily to mind for that difficult spot or situation. If you need
a little help with ideas for the problem spot or that new garden,
we've come up with a cost effective solution.
For every gardener,
spring brings with it a laundry list of tasks to do in the garden
- jobs that are necessary to ensure healthy, bountiful blooms and
harvests for the coming season.
Spring is always
full of pleasant surprises and we have many planned for this spring
to delight you. It is our goal to cultivate the enjoyment of gardening
through the plants we grow, the products we offer and the advice
we give. If we could do more, please let us know while you're here.
Our measure of success is your garden.
