Pot-in-Pot Trees
April
2002 Volume 15, No. 1
In addition to our balled and burlapped
trees, Horsford’s now offers trees that we
grow in containers sunk into the
ground, grown by a method we refer to
as “Pot-in-Pot.”
These are the trees we
plant into our own fields each summer
to produce the large specimen trees for
which we’re known. Container growing
has some distinct advantages:
-These trees can be transplanted anytime
during the season as long as they
are well watered.
-Containerized trees don’t stress out
upon transplanting.
-Trees in pots are easier to handle and
plant because they are smaller and
weigh less.
-These smaller trees can save you
hundreds of dollars if you’re willing to
wait a couple more years for your trees
to mature.
-Trees that have been traditionally
difficult to transplant due to taproots
are now handled easily and with more
success. |
