Fall is for Planting

Fall is a superb time for planting and transplanting many trees and shrubs as well as perennials. You should follow some basic planting rules:
Evergreens should be planted in Vermont no later than the last week of September. Because they never really go dormant, they need the full benefit of autumn rains to promote root growth.
Deciduous plants can be planted until trees have lost all their leaves.
