Produces rich-blue berries that are retained for a long period after the flowers are spent. Woodland garden plant. Will tolerate dry soil, but responds best in moist soils during the summer.

Deep blue flowers in June on this bushy plant. In July, cut old stems to base and it will rebloom in August. A durable plant that thrives on neglect, we even had one growing in the cracks of our outdoor stairwell. Popular as a cut flower.

The name is most appropriate. In June it certainly looks like a snowdrift with its mass of dainty white flowers. Silver foliage, ground cover. Full sun, dry soil.

Masses of gentian blue flowers dance on this groundcover from late summer through fall. Foliage turns a beautiful autumn red in September.

We always sell out of this unusual plant. Pink flowers in late summer resemble a turtle's head. Likes rich, moist soil. Plant it in spring and give it lots of space.

Elegant, bottle brush-like white wands in mid-summer held high above the medium green foliage. Mixes well with the dark foliage of other bugbanes. If planted in full sun, it will do best with consistent moisture and lots of organic matter. Native to North America.

What a wonderful addition to your shade garden! This elegant plant forms clumps of purplish foliage topped with wonderfully fragrant bottlebrush flowers from late summer into fall. The flowers are white with a hint of pink; the seed heads will last into winter unless you cut them for your holiday greens bouquet

Clematis integrifolia

This has grown very well in our gardens for some years now. Lightly fragrant, bell-shaped flowers are deep blue or soft pink from July into September. It does look best when supported. In early spring, gather some 2' tall branched twigs and drive them into the ground close to the crown. These will help hold up the stems.

Flowers are a soft lilac-mauve with a paler contrast at the base. Blooms from June to September. If not given support, it will scramble over the ground.

A shrub-form clematis, this one won't climb your trellis, but will be a perfect addition to your perennial garden. The leaves emerge purple and mature to a dusky green in mid summer. While they are still purple, they perfectly showcase the delicate, fragrant white blossoms that emerge in spring and continue to mid summer. One source recommends cutting to the ground after blooming to get new purple foliage and some rebloom.

Also called 'Mouse Ear Coreopsis' because of its sweet little leaves. Golden daisy-like flowers start blooming in late spring and will continue throughout the summer. Prefers dry, sandy soil.

Soft yellow flowers have a vibrant cranberry eye. They bloom all summer (deadheading helps) and blush slightly red in the cool weather of autumn. Easy to grow and non-invasive.

Deep golden yellow flowers begin in early summer and continue into fall. Clump forming, airy, needle-like foliage. This species is easy to maintain and has a high drought tolerance. Great for beginner gardeners!

Compact, mounding plants are covered with single golden yellow flowers having crimson eyes and yellow centers. They bloom from summer into fall and are easy to grow in gardens or containers.

A natural cross between 'Early Sunrise' and 'Zamfir' having more consistently fluted petals (Get it? Fluted?) above a compact mound of foliage. Will play 'Aqualung' from early to mid summer with its golden yellow flowers.

Mounds of deep green, cabbage-like leaves with impressive flower stalks covered in masses of tiny white flowers -- resembles baby's breath on steroids. Another candidate for a sunny, moist spot. Look for it in the Horsford's sun garden.

A deep orange flower with a dark orange center that is great for cutting appears in late summer to early fall above the iris-like foliage. Note: only hardy to Zone 6, so overwinter in a cool cellar.
