The name is most appropriate. In June it certainly looks like a snowdrift with its mass of dainty white flowers. Silver foliage, ground cover. Full sun, dry soil.

Elegant, bottle brush-like white wands in mid-summer held high above the medium green foliage. Mixes well with the dark foliage of other bugbanes. If planted in full sun, it will do best with consistent moisture and lots of organic matter. Native to North America.

A great perennial for the back of your shade garden. Ivory-white bottle brush flowers bloom mid to late summer. Foliage is purple changing to dark green as the summer progresses. Loves moist soil.

Clusters of deep blue to purple flowers are bell-shaped and bloom from summer into fall. Will grow 3-5' in a season. Not a climbing clematis, but may need support.

This has grown very well in our gardens for some years now. Lightly fragrant, bell-shaped flowers are deep blue or soft pink from July into September. It does look best when supported. In early spring, gather some 2' tall branched twigs and drive them into the ground close to the crown. These will help hold up the stems.

This bush form of clematis was originally in our display garden and everyone who saw it loved it. Two inch wide medium blue flowers are a great color and fragrant. Needs support.

A shrub-form clematis, this one won't climb your trellis, but will be a perfect addition to your perennial garden. The leaves emerge purple and mature to a dusky green in mid summer. While they are still purple, they perfectly showcase the delicate, fragrant white blossoms that emerge in spring and continue to mid summer. One source recommends cutting to the ground after blooming to get new purple foliage and some rebloom.

Also called 'Mouse Ear Coreopsis' because of its sweet little leaves. Golden daisy-like flowers start blooming in late spring and will continue throughout the summer. Prefers dry, sandy soil.

Soft yellow flowers have a vibrant cranberry eye. They bloom all summer (deadheading helps) and blush slightly red in the cool weather of autumn. Easy to grow and non-invasive.

An easy to grow, drought tolerant, diseases resistant perennial that produces hundreds of flowers each season. 3" canary yellow flowers appear in July. A great and rewarding addition to any sun garden.

Deep golden yellow flowers begin in early summer and continue into fall. Clump forming, airy, needle-like foliage. This species is easy to maintain and has a high drought tolerance. Great for beginner gardeners!

Double and semi-double golden daisy-like flowers bloom in June and July. This variety is especially compact and vigorous. Deadheading will prolong the bloom time. It is easy to grow and a good choice for beginning and experienced gardeners alike.

A natural cross between 'Early Sunrise' and 'Zamfir' having more consistently fluted petals (Get it? Fluted?) above a compact mound of foliage. Will play 'Aqualung' from early to mid summer with its golden yellow flowers.

This is a late blooming variety that will bring rich color to your garden in late summer. The blooms have deep red centers that fade to cream. In colder temperatures the flowers become pure red.

A popular garden plant. Grows from a corm, bearing sword-shaped leaves and a two to four foot erect flower stem which produces brilliant orange-red flowers in summer. Seen in most English gardens. Note: hardy here in our Zone 5 garden but away from Lake Champlain overwinter in a cool cellar.
