Planted in an open spot, Helen's Flower will happily produce rich bronze-red flowers in July and August. Makes a wonderful cut flower and is not particular about soil.

A native of the prairie, the Ox Eye Sunflower will grow in any kind of soil and will tolerate dry to moist conditions -- it actually loves clay! Not only that, but it has a loooooong bloom time: it starts blooming in June and will often flower until September with loads of yellow daisy-type flowers. It self-sows on oopen soil so that you can soon have a beautiful patch of sunshine.

This is an easy to grow late summer blooming plant. Horsford's used to have 50 of them lining our East growing field. Completely neglected, they grew into 4' tall bushy specimens with hundreds of miniature sunflowers.
