Long, narrow, lance-shaped leaves have red petioles with the color extending up into the leaf veins. This red coloring turns intensely red-purple in fall with the vase shape of the clump showing it to best advantage. Lavender flowers are borne on 2' scapes in late summer. Pair with a red-blooming Astilbe for a great combo.
