Vermont’s Arbor Day is annually celebrated on the first Friday in May. This year Arbor Day is on Friday, May 3, 2019. National Arbor Day was founded in 1872 in Nebraska by J. Sterling Morton.
Whether you plant for shade, for wildlife, for blooms, or for fruit, you’ll plant a legacy that will benefit you and the environment for generations to come. Celebrate with us this year and plant a tree.
Greening Schools on Arbor Day
For over 25 years, local schools in Chittenden and Addison counties have planted hundreds of big, beautiful trees to help celebrate Arbor Day in partnership with Vermont Urban and Community Forestry. Visit their website to apply for a tree donated by Charlie and Eileen of Horsford’s.
Participating schools must:
- Plant the tree on Arbor Day as part of a school-wide Arbor Day ceremony
- Pick up the tree here at Horsford Gardens and Nursery in Charlotte. We can show you how to unload the tree safely. We’re happy to deliver if needed for a $60 fee.
- Maintain the tree in the future
