Botanical Painting on Porcelain and Glassware
Beth Anne Royer
Join us to explore the history of botanical illustration in order to provide context for appreciating and illustrating the world around us. In this workshop we will seek visual delight in the plant life at Horsford Gardens and Nursery and use that delight to create inspired designs on glassware, porcelain, plates, mugs (or most any suitable surface) We will also discuss historical botanical illustrators in order to seek inspiration from other plant enthusiasts of history.
Materials: Students should bring fine tip brushes and if they have a specific type of surface (i.e. plate, teacup etc) in mind to bring that. Beth Anne will provide a list of what can be painted on with the paints we will use. While Beth Anne will bring some additional fine-tip brushes, paints & some materials to paint on, if your heart is set on painting a creme brûlée ceramic dish, bring it! If you have a palette you love, bring that too.
