Nature Journaling in the Garden – July
DATE & TIME
Saturday, June 27, Saturday, July 25, Saturday, August 22, 2020
10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Nature journaling is a fun and relaxing way to learn about the natural world through drawing and nature writing. We will spend the morning entirely outside, surrounded by the beautiful Horsford Gardens while practicing observational sketching and nature writing. Focusing on three different garden themes, this 3-part workshop series will introduce students of any age and ability to basic nature journaling skills, which can be tailored to any outdoor interests. Each day we’ll warm up with writing prompts and sketching exercises, try some different art materials, and learn strategies for identifying plants and animals.
Day 1 on June 27 will focus on flowers
Day 2 on July 25 will focus on pollinators
Day 3 on August 22 will focus on trees.
You can sign up for one or all of the days, but please register by the Thursday before the class, as there is a 4 person minimum to run each session. While this is a more mature workshop, adults are welcome to bring interested kids for just an extra $10. All students will need to dress for outdoor conditions and should bring their favorite non-electronic writing/drawing tools. Any additional materials will be provided.
Please email instructor Rachel Sargent Mirus at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions or to register. I look forward to meeting you!
